I’m a qualified teacher, tutor and study skills coach.
Hi, I’m Priya!
I’m a born and raised North-West Londoner.
From a young age, my family have always instilled the value and power of education. They continue to support my vision of wanting to make a difference through education, even if that only amounts to ‘a drop in the ocean’.
But my experience within education has been quite a journey…
I struggled a lot.
It wasn’t until Year 5 I started enjoying being at school.
I was a motivated student. I worked hard and spent hours studying at secondary school and sixth form, but my efforts didn’t always match my intended outcome.
This made me more frustrated about learning.
I remained motivated.
My determined mindset didn’t stop me from achieving a
-Geography Degree
-PGCE in Secondary Geography Education
-Masters in Education, Gender and International Development.
I love learning, I achieved great grades and even got nominated for awards.
BUT I struggled and I ended up just ‘figuring how to study’ myself.
When I started teaching,
in 2006, I witnessed similar challenges I faced among so many students that I supported.
Students didn’t know:
-‘how to learn, revise or plan effectively for their studies’ and often the outcome for many students included the feeling of being:
-overwhelmed, stressed, wanting to give up, or just simply put off learning in the future.
What I know as a teacher is that
learning the effective study strategies were NOT taught in schools and if it was, it’s not consistent.
Students just had to ‘figure it out’.
Since leaving the classroom
in 2019, I spend my time tutoring and coaching students with the essential study skills to guide and boost their confidence so that students can achieve their ambitious study goals. With my enthusiasm, courage and practical experience, I give students the tools they needs to effectively learn and study.
After all, learning is life long, you may as well learn the smart way.
